Cauliflower And Spinach Dahl

The ingredient of Cauliflower And Spinach Dahl

  • 2 tablespoons coles olive oil
  • 1 small brown onion cut into small dice
  • 2 cloves garlic finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ginger peeled and finely chopped
  • 1 2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 1 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 1 2 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 10 fresh curry leaves
  • 500g yellow split peas rinsed
  • 1 3 4 litres water
  • 300g cauliflower cut into small 2cm chunks
  • 2 cups 50g spinach leaves
  • 4 chapatti traditional bread to serve
  • 1 2 red chilli finely chopped

The Instruction of cauliflower and spinach dahl

  • heat oil in heavy based saucepan add onions and cook until soft for approximately 2 minutes add garlic ginger and chili and cook for 1 additional minute season to taste with salt and pepper
  • add turmeric cumin coriander and curry leaves to the pan and heat through for 2 minutes stirring constantly place split peas in same pot and stir to coat add water and increase to high heat bring to the boil reduce heat and simmer partially covered for about 25 minutes until split peas are nearly tender and the mixture is a soupy consistency
  • add cauliflower and cook a further 10 minutes should be consistency of a puree check for seasoning remove from heat and fold in spinach
  • to serve divide evenly among four bowls and serve with warm chapatti traditional bread
